LAura is a personal assistant. If you give us your mobile number, you can text LAura the way you would text a person: send an event, a schedule, or a question, and she puts it on your calendar, adds it to your task list, or answers. She replies by text. She also sends the reminders, nudges, and daily summaries you have switched on, and nothing else.
This is a one-to-one conversation with your own assistant about your own calendar, tasks, and mail. LAura does not send marketing or promotional messages, and she only ever texts the person whose account the number belongs to.
A text message cannot carry a logo or a verified name, so LAura arrives as a plain phone number until you save her. Save LAura as a contact and every message from her shows her name and her picture instead of a number you do not recognise. Anything she sends you out of the blue, a reminder or a daily summary, says her name in the message itself.
Texting is off until you turn it on, and only you can turn it on. You sign in to your own LAura account, open Settings, and in the "Text messages" section you type your own mobile number and tick a consent box that is unchecked by default. The box reads:
I agree to receive text messages from LAura at the number above. Message frequency varies, roughly 2 to 4 messages a week plus a reply whenever I text. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See the Privacy Policy and Terms.
Your number is not stored unless that box is ticked, and we record the moment you consented. We never buy, rent, or otherwise obtain phone numbers from anyone else, and no one can opt you in but you.
It varies, and you control it. Expect roughly 2 to 4 messages a week from the reminders and summaries you have switched on, plus a reply each time you text LAura.
LAura does not charge for text messages. Message and data rates may apply from your own mobile carrier. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Reply STOP to any message and LAura will not text you again. Reply START to turn it back on, or HELP for help. You can also delete your number entirely from the same Settings screen you used to add it, which stops the texts immediately and erases the number.
Your number is stored encrypted, with a key separate from our database, and it is never written to our logs. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party. We share your number only with our messaging carrier, Twilio, for the sole purpose of delivering the messages you asked for.
The full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
